Most people do it automatically. They shorten my name, which is Rachel, to Rach. Usually the first time a person does this, it's when I'm about to slip away...as in "Hey Rach, wait!" I love when it happens for the first time because I figure it means the person is really starting to feel comfortable with me. I've had several nicknames over the course of my life...most of which I did not enjoy and will not repeat here. If you are already a friend of mine and know one, kindly keep it to yourself! If not, Hi I'm Rachel. Go ahead, it's okay, just call me Rach.
